Red Bull Magazine - Robbie Maddison

This was one of the most fun shoots i have ever produced. Firstly myself and the crew navigated ourselves to the secret Red Bull Compound (somewhere in the California desert…!), along a dirt rode into a valley and here we found 3 different freestyle moto cross tracks, complete with bespoke man made jumps. Robbie was in training for his 70 foot back flip over Londons Tower Bridge. At the compound there was a full scale repillica of the bridge built out of scaffolding, despite the jump being less than a week away Robbie didnt want to practice as he had it ‘dialed in already’…!

The crew and i were fortunate to enough to have Robbie all to ourselves as he threw himself and his machine through the various dirt jumps and turns. Robbie was very much involved in the shoot and was happy to look into the camera whilst doing a back flip 3 stories into the air…! A super cool guy and all the people around him were hugely welcoming and very accomodating, including his lovely wife Amy. Robbie insisted i had a ride on his bike. Ive ridden a few bikes in the past, but this thing was the equilivent of a Formula 1 car and i likened it to a wild stallion, brutal…!!
